Biography

Anne Christine Wold was born in Denmark in 1980. As a child she started out in music playing the piano, but soon found her real passion in singing. She would spend hours singing into her dad’s old dictaphone, recording little songs she made up on the spot.

At the age of sixteen, she went to a music boarding school, where she began playing the guitar. Inspired by various rock bands at the time, she dreamed of becoming a rock guitarist, but whenever she played in school bands, she ended up singing instead, and the guitar was soon left in a corner of her room.

In 1999 after finishing high school, Anne Christine went backpacking in Australia, a journey that proved to have great influence on her music career. She fell in love with the country and in 2001 she decided to move to Melbourne to study music at the Victorian College of the Arts, majoring in vocal improvisation. At college, influenced by jazz, folk and world music, she began writing more and more of her own songs, a practice that is now one of her greatest skills. She loves telling stories and sharing her thoughts through songs, and always tries to fuse her music and lyrics into an inseparable entity..

After completing her Bachelor of Music Performance in 2003, Anne Christine wanted to start a recording project with her own compositions. This resulted in the 12 original songs comprising her debut solo album, When Thinking of You.

The album is released in Australia by Olive Music and in America by Dreamscape Records (for more information visit www.olivemusic.com and www.dreamscaperecordsltd.com).

Anne Christine is also part of the duo Sage, which she formed in 1999 with the Australian pianist and composer Benjamin de Murashkin. Sage’s music is a unique blend of ambient soundscape and song. Since the release of Sage’s first CD, Behind Open Doors, in 2000, the duo has released several more CDs (for more information visit www.olivemusic.com and www.fonixmusic.com).

Over the years Anne Christine has performed with various musicians and worked on a range of recording projects, including mantra songs, meditation music and providing backing vocals. During her last year at college, she regained her interest for the acoustic guitar, which has given a new dimension to recent songwriting.

At the present time she is living in Denmark, where she is working with Benjamin on a new album by Sage - this time taking their own look at the electronic pop genre. Alongside making music, Anne Christine is also working as a music teacher.

Since the release of, When Thinking of You, Anne Christine has continually been writing more songs, which she hopes to start recording in the near future.
